How long does the conveyancing process take?



The conveyancing process in New South Wales, Australia can take anywhere from several weeks to several months, depending on various factors such as the complexity of the transaction, the availability of the parties involved, and the efficiency of the conveyancer.


The pre-contract stage, which includes making an offer and negotiating the terms of the sale, can take several weeks.

The contract stage, which includes the preparation and signing of the legally binding contract, can take several days.

The pre-completion stage, which includes carrying out various checks and searches, can take several weeks.

The completion stage, which includes the final paperwork and transfer of ownership, typically takes place on a specific date agreed upon by both parties, known as the settlement date, it can take a day.

The post-completion stage, which includes registering the new ownership with the Land Registry and dealing with any other post-completion formalities, can take a few days to a week.
